Anxiety often feels like a persistent buzzing in the mind or a tight coil in the body. It pulls attention into “what ifs” and future worries. Most approaches urge us to calm down, distract ourselves, or control outcomes. Emotional alchemy invites a different approach: befriending anxiety without resistance.
Start by noticing it. Where do you feel it in the body? What thoughts accompany it? Instead of running or suppressing, allow yourself to sit with it. Presence does not require absence of discomfort; it requires absence of struggle.

Breath is an anchor. Gentle, conscious breathing stabilises the nervous system and provides a container for the restless energy anxiety brings.
Curiosity softens the experience. Ask: What is this anxiety trying to tell me? Often it signals a need for attention, preparation, or self-compassion. Insight emerges when we stop controlling the sensation and begin observing it.
Gradually, the coil of anxiety unravels into stillness. Presence is restored. Decisions become clearer. Life is experienced more fully. Anxiety has not been eliminated, it has been transformed into a teacher rather than a tyrant.
